The Chair focuses its research and teaching on planning and analyzing strategic and operational service processes in the health sector, especially in hospitals. Key tasks involve modeling, analyzing, and optimizing practice-relevant problems through empirical and quantitative methods. The research is carried out in close cooperation with practitioners. The central topics deal with process, resource, quality, and information management. For example, personnel scheduling of doctors and nurses as well as the operating room planning are examined under consideration of stochastic influences and dynamic appointment. Furthermore, quality assessment and benchmarking of organizations and organizational units are supported by qualitative and quantitative analyzes in order to improve medical core processes.
